Course Maps and Aid Station Information

Marathon: The Marathon course winds through the beautiful Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota. Vibrant fall colors provide the backdrop as runners traverse hills and backwoods bridges, catching glimpses some of the thousands of Minnesota lakes. Less than 5 miles of the course are run on paved road. Most of the course is run on grass trail, paved trail, and gravel roads. The trail is groomed and any obstacles are marked for safety. The race starts and ends at the local high school. The starts is fast as it is down hill, but that means, of course, that the end is uphill.

1/2 Marathon: The 1/2 Marathon course starts at mile 13.1 of the marathon course, and follows the 2nd half of the course to finish at the high school track in Walker (including the famous 1/2 mile climb to the finish line).

10K Course: The 10K starts down hill and winds for a short time through town before turning onto the Paul Bunyan Trail. The trail is paved and flat until the last 1/2 mile to the finish, which is uphill.

Aid Stations and Facilities

• For the Marathon and Half Marathon - Aid stations will be located at Marathon Mile Markers 3.5, 6, 7.5, 9, 11.5, 14.5, 16.2, 18.5, 20, 23 and 25.5 mile markers. For the 10K - One aid station will be at available at the halfway point.
• Medical personnel, first aid supplies, emergency communications, water and a power drink will be available at each station.
• Restrooms and Showers will be available at the High School - Bring your own soap and towels.
• Sandwiches, Fruit and Beverages will be available on the track at the Finish Line for participants only.
